Three More Scrap Retreat Layouts

So last week I mentioned I’d been on a scrap retreat, and I showed you 3 Girly Layouts which I made while I was there. I also told you I had a few more pages, this time with barely any pink on them!

Sorry it’s taken me a lot longer than I expected to post these, I ended up having a hectic week last week … the festive season is getting busy. Here they are…

The Wood House:

This was a playhouse we found at Moors Valley Country Park, on a walk there one day with my Mum. It was a bit of a cold and muddy day but we had lots of fun anyway and the kids loved this house!

I used lots of woody-brown hues on this page, with the occasional touch of deep pink to echo my daughters coat, and to keep the page feeling warm and happy:

I tied a bit of brown string to the top of the chipboard circles, to give a different texture to the page. I also used a ‘NSEW’ wood veneer from the This Way Travel set to show that we were on a journey:

Building A Monster Castle:

This fun photo is of my kids at the beach, building a castle using a monster set I bought. It has eyes, teeth, and other pieces – just like you get with a Mr. Potato Head – but you put these on a castle instead!

I turned to Pinterest for a bit of inspiration for this page – I wanted something with some different shapes and a really lively feel. So I chose THIS PAGE by Ania Komenda as my inspiration. My photo was much bigger so the page ended up quite different to hers, but you can certainly see lots of circles and the flowing title:

I doodled on some of the circles like Ania did, and also drew around a couple on the background. I added a few other shapes to break up the circles too, including banner flags and a fishy sticker:

What’s This?:

These photos are of my cheeky boy discovering nature. He was particularly interested in the textures of tree trunks, but he also really really wanted to jump in the muddy ditch!

I wanted tons of different textures on here because of the cool tree-trunk texture. So I started the page with some embossing paste dots applied through a Tim Holtz stencil (thank you Sarah for lending me hers), and some splashes of gold ink:

I added a nice big cork heart at the top left for more texture too:

I found another fun angle for a title by following the diagonal lines of the page too:

There we go, that’s the rest of my 12×12 pages that I made on the retreat. I did also complete a December Daily / JYC album, THIS ONE from 2012, which I’d printed photos for and then not put together! I shall try to show you that at some point this week!

What do you think – do you prefer pink & girly pages or brown/blue textural pages?

See you again soon,

Jennifer x

  • three very different and fabulous pages. it’s good to see how someone else inspired your circle page. For me is the browns and blues. I’m not sure i’d be able to make a true girlie page 🙂 x x

OH my gosh, these are just beautiful layouts! I like them all, but that Wood House page is my favorite! The embellishments and cork alphabet work so well with the fun photos!
