Six Cards On The 6th

Today a new blog series started at the SJ Crafts blog! It’s called ‘Six Cards On The 6th’ and it’s all about getting your Christmas cards made in the run up to the festive season so you aren’t overwhelmed as it approaches! I know it’s summer right now in a lot of the world, so it’s hard to feel festive, but if you like making your own Christmas cards  for that personal touch, then it’s never to early to start!

Every month from now until December there will be inspiration from two of the SJ Crafts Design Team members, showing you six cards they’ve made with a kit they put together. Making a kit from your supplies makes it a lot quicker and easier to create a batch of cards!

Here’s the kit I put together, from lots of last years supplies including papers that already had negative shapes in them, where I’d cut or punched things out last year:

And here are the cards I made! All I added to the kit were the card blanks and some gems (plus ink / adhesive, etc). I made sure I used at least one bit of ribbon and at least one wood veneer on each card to give a variety of texture:

I had fun piecing the scraps of papers together to fill up the cards, and it was great to use up scraps so that I’ve got more space for new supplies!

If you want to see larger photos of these cards, and see the cards that Sarah created, then check them out on the SJ Crafts blog HERE! You can also join in at any time during the month by making six Christmas cards of your own, uploading them to a blog or gallery, and adding a link in our Linky Tool. Then we can come and see your cards and be inspired by you too.

It feels good to be getting prepared! x

  • What a great idea. Will you make a new kit each month? Or use the same one?
I’ve bookmarked this to come back to again later.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Just gorgeous. And I love this as a concept. It would be awesome to have organised Christmas cards long before the holidays actually arrive!
