Renew Your Embellishments With Spray Paint!
Today I’m sharing how to renew your embellishments with spray paint!
Tell me I’m not the only one who has lots of embellishments purchased years ago, and still hanging round in my craft stash?! I need to spring clean my supplies a little, and I decided that instead of giving them all away I’d see which ones I could update to suit my current style.
These were the embellishments I started with, that needed a new lease of life:
Some of these I wanted to change because the colours weren’t right for me (I rarely use purple), some were because the design was too intricate for me (yes I’m talking about you Mrs doily heart and Madame fake black lace), and a couple were just because I had a few items the same colour, and I knew I’d never use them all with the same hue (eg the cork heart and the white owl).
So I pulled out my spray paint (Plati-Kote Metallic Gold and Matt Super Flat White). I divided the embellies into which colours I wanted them to be, put them at each end of an old messy mount-board, took it into the garden, and followed the instructions for spraying (make sure you do this in an outdoor space, protecting the surrounding area and maybe wearing a mask too – this stuff isn’t good to inhale or to spray all over your precious garden flowers):
I left this to dry for a couple of hours then sprayed another layer. At this point the gold was done:
But the white was still a bit translucent:
So after drying for a couple of hours I gave the white items another coat. Now they were ready:
The cork items look quite cool as you can still see the cork texture, but my favourite items are the owl and the gold 3D flower:
This renewed pile of embellishments is so much more inspiring to me:
What do you think? Would you be more likely to use these in their old state or their new state? What colour would you change your embellishments to?
I’ll be back tomorrow to share a project that I’ve used some of these on!
Bye for now
P.S. I’m linking this up to the Tuesday Tutorials #pintorials Linky Party!
