Now is Your Time – Pendant

(This post is part of my Onwards and Upwards Blog Event)

I thought we’d finish the evening off with a piece of jewellery. Something to wear around your neck and keep you motivated all day long:

Now is Your Time pendant by Jennifer Grace

Here’s how to make one for yourself:

Step 1: Cut out four hearts the same size as each other – 3 from cardstock, and one from woodgrain patterned paper. The patterned paper I used is from Glitz Color me Happy, and the hearts were cut with my Slice Design cutter and the Basic Shapes card, on a 2″ setting:

Step 2: Layer them up one at a time, using Mod-Podge to glue them together, making sure you go right up to, and around, the edges:

You’ll end up with a nice, sturdy pendant base:

Step 3: Decorate it! I used a some Uncharted Waters Bokeh Washi Tape, a punched paper doily, a punched star, words cut from some Color Me Happy 6×6 paper, and some dots of Crystal Stickles. The papers are all stuck on with paper mod-podge:

Step 4: Super-glue a jewellery bail to the top of the heart at the back. Attach a chain and clasp. Then wear your necklace to make you feel good!

You could give the pendant another coat of mod-podge or similar sealer to protect it, I decided not to worry about that as I liked how it looked (a sealant might end up with streaks, or dust stuck in it etc, if you aren’t too good at applying it, like me!), and I’m not worried about it lasting forever!

Be Inspired:

Layer lots of one paper shape to make a thicker embellishment

Create something for yourself that makes you feel positive

Use woodgrain as a background for something pretty

What do you think, would wearing this necklace make you feel more positive / empowered / cheerful? What words would you choose to go on a pendant for yourself?

I thought it really was board. I’ve never thought of gluing several pieces together like that and using wood grain paper. I wish I had seen this a week ago. I would have made it for my mama for Mother’s Day Sunday. That turned out so good. Kudos Jennifer.

Such a great idea. I think it would make me feel energized to wear a piece of jewelry like this and a great reminder that in the “now” I am always building a better life.

  • I love making paper fashion accessories too – earrings are my favourites right now. since they only need little bits of scrap paper, I don’t bother sealing them and just make new ones when they get worn out.
