No-Sew Gold Faux Leather Fringe Cuff!

Want a new accessory for your autumn / fall wardrobe, with enough glam to carry you through to Christmas and New Year?

Make your self a No-Sew Gold Faux Leather Fringe Cuff:

Of course you could also make this to gift to someone, but I’m going to keep mine for myself!

Here’s how to make one…

You Will Need:

* Gold Faux Leather (aka Leatherette) * Hot Glue Gun * Velcro (Hook & Loop) * Snap Fastener *Pencil & Ruler * Sharp Scissors *

Step 1: Measure your wrist around where you want the top of the cuff to rest:

Step 2: On the back of your gold faux leather, mark out three boxes. To work out the length of the largest box add 1½” to the wrist measurement you just took – my wrist was 7½”, so my box was 9″ long. It needs to be 3″ tall. The medium and small boxes need to be a quarter-inch longer than your wrist measurement, so mine were 7¾” long. The medium one should be 2½” tall, the smallest 2″ tall:

Step 3: Cut them all out:

Step 4: On the back of the smallest piece mark a line 0.5″ from the top long edge:

Step 5: Use sharp scissors to cut the fringe, from the bottom long edge up to the line you marked. My snips were approx 3/16″ apart but I wasn’t too exact about it:

Cut the fringe all the way along this smallest piece, and then repeat step 5 for the medium piece of faux leather too.

Step 6: On the largest piece you need to do things a little differently. Mark a 1¼” box at each end of the piece. Then draw a line 0.5″ from the bottom edge. I’ve shaded in all the area that you DO NOT cut. If you cut this bit into long fringes then your cuff will slide down your wrist and be a bangle instead of a cuff:

NB: If you are gifting this you’ll want to be more gentle when drawing your guide marks, you might be able to erase them completely if you are light enough with the pencil or you use fabric chalk. I didn’t worry because this one’s for me, plus I wanted you to see everything clearly in the photos!

Step 7: Cut the tiny fringe on the larger piece. This is what all three pieces look like with the fringe cut:

Step 8: Squeeze a line of hot glue along the wrong-side at the top of the MEDIUM piece of faux leather:

Step 9: Press it onto the largest piece, lining up the top edges and the right-hand edge:

Step 10: Repeat with the smallest piece on top of these:

Step 11: Use hot glue to stick on a piece of Velcro (hook & loop) and a snap fastener to the front flat piece of your cuff:

With the matching pieces at the back:

I was just going to use velcro, but it wasn’t strong enough, my cuff stayed on but the join was gappy. The snap fastener keeps it tight and neat. You could probably just use a few snap fasteners and no velcro, I might try that next time!

That’s it! Wear your cuff and feel fabulous:

Pretty huh? I can see me wearing it lots in the run up to Christmas and maybe even for New Year too!

Thanks for stopping by. I’m linking this up to Show & Tell Wednesday and the Pintorials Linky.
