My June Counterfeit Kit – Blog Hop Reveal!

It’s time for the reveal of the June Counterfeit Kits! Hop along with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Design Team, as we show you what kits we’ve pulled together from our stash! If you’re hopping along you should have reached me via the fabulous Jemma at Just JimJams, and I shall send you onwards at the end of my post!

This month we had a choice of kits to counterfeit from the May Scraptastic Club Kits, and I chose ‘Destination Unknown’ which you can see HERE. This is my version:

June Counterfeit Kit by Jennifer Grace

I loved the bright, happy colours, and the happy-go-lucky feel, of the Destination Unknown Kit, so I tried to replicate that!

I started with some bold papers and a selection of journal cards / tags (which I blue-tacked onto a sheet of white cardstock to keep them all together).

Papers and Journal Cards:

Papers are from DCWV Taj Mahal, Dovecraft Fantasy, Crate Paper Portrait, Bazzill Basics Papers Avalon, Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee, Webster’s Pages Western Romance, DCWV glitter papers,   Cosmo Cricket Upcycle and Odds & Ends, Doodlebug Designs, Papermania, Pebbles Walnut Grove, and K & Co Margot.

The journaling cards are mainly from Echo Park and Elle’s Studio (various collections), plus a couple of other odd cards.

The Embellishments, Alphas, and Stamps:

These include: Pink ‘Salutations’ Thickers, Amy Tangerine ‘Muse’ Thickers, Prima Fairy Belle Alphas, Crate Paper Acorn Avenue Mini Alphas, Pink Paislee Portfolio Stamps, Handmade Speech Bubbles and Flags (more on these below), Papermania gems, pink and yellow feathers, pink sequins, stripy paperclips, blue & white twine, and a selection of ribbons (I realised my ribbon box was overflowing so here’s a good chance to use some up!).

Here’s the handmade embellishments – they aren’t too complicated this month so I’m putting the details on this post rather than a separate post:

The Handmade Flags…

Take 5 cocktail sticks and glue a seed bead to the top of each one (I used glossy accents to glue them on), and choose a selection of paper scraps (I used papers from the 6×6 Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm paper pad):

Flags Step 1

Cut the papers into rectangles, fold in half, and cut notches in the ends if you want to (photo shows them unfolded):

Flags Step 2

Fold the papers around the cocktail sticks and glue together – done!

The Handmade Speech Bubbles:

When making these I was counterfeiting the Studio Calico Snippets Speech Bubbles in the Scraptastic Club Destinations Unknown Add-On…

Cut a selection of speech bubbles (I used my Slice Desin Cutter and Back to School Design Card), from a variety of paper and cardstock:

Speech Bubbles Step 1

Decorate them!

From left to right, top to bottom, here’s what I did: 1. Stamped the word ‘Hello’ with Studio G Mini Alpha Stamps, 2. Added a strip of Freckled Fawn Washi Tape, 3 & 4. Left Blank, 5. Stamped a hand from an American Crafts ‘Thanks’ Stamp Set and doodled a black border, 6. Punched two stars from book paper and doodled around them with gold pen, 7. Used yellow mist with the Studio Calico Burst Mask and added an enamel dot, 8. Stamped some cogs with a Papermania stamp, 9. Stamped some Ampersands with a Studio G stamp (stamping several times after inking so some were faded):

Always a pleasure to see the amazing kit you put together. This one s no different. Happy, bright colours and lots of details which will add up to gorgeous pages. I really like the idea of the seed bead at the top of the cocktail stick. Wouldn’t have thought of that.

  • Fab take on the kit-to-copy – really bright and cheerful. I love the idea of topping toothpicks with a seed bead … I usually just trip one spike and have it aligned at the top of the flag.
