Happy Holidays Festive House

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2013 Blog Event)

Another cute decoration that was fun to alter!

Happy Holidays Festive House:

Happy Holidays Festive House

I love this so much that I’m going to make a few for gifts, as well as keeping this one for myself!

You can see the layers quite well, but here’s what I did in case you’d like more details…

Step 1: Start with a blank house. Mine was a flat wooden birdhouse ornament I picket up in the sales somewhere, it measures approx 5 x 7″. I haven’t been able to find them online, but I think THESE ONES from Tando Creative would look just as cute, they are a bit smaller but that would be okay!

Step 2: Give it a coat of white acrylic paint all over, or two coats of white Gesso:

Step 3: Paint the roof with a mint-blue acrylic paint. Mix some of the same paint with some modelling paste, and use a polka-dot stencil to scrape it onto the bottom of the house:

Step 4: Hot-glue some beaded trim around the edge of the roof. Heat emboss two stamped stars with gold glitter embossing powder:

Then just add a couple of chipboard pieces (mine are from My Mind’s Eye 12 Days Of Christmas), a wood veneer, and a couple of gems on top! Hang it somewhere to look pretty!

Be Inspired:

Create/decorate a festive house – on its own or as an embellishment for a page or card

Add a bit of beaded trim

Try a bit of stencilling on your next project

See you soon, Jennifer x

Like this a lot, particularly the addition of mint-blue, it adds an icy feel.
