Drifting Off With The Clouds

(This post is part of my Onwards and Upwards Blog Event)

We started the day with a sunrise, but we’re finishing off by drifting away on some dreamy clouds!

The World At My Feet:

The World at My Feet layout by Jennifer Grace

This photo is one of my favourites from my childhood, because I remember the moment so well. I was going through a very day-dreamy phase – it was that age where you are still a child but starting to feel grown up, and I was realising what a big wide world was out there. It made me feel big and small at the same time – I could think of all the possibilities open to me, but also felt overwhelmed by them – how would I ever be able to choose what to do, and how to live my life?

I used lots of this lovely serene blue colour to enhance the mood. And then I added some glitter, because it makes it all look magical! I glittered the top of the clouds for a ‘silver lining’, and I altered some Thickers to spell ‘world’ by adding blue glitter to them:

It makes me want to go and sit on a hill or mountain and look at the clouds again!

Now for using clouds on a card…

Dreams Do Come True:

Dreams Do Come True card by Jennifer Grace

Everything on here (except the sentiment and the two blue gems) is from my Onwards and Upwards Counterfeit Kit. I’m going to give this card to my sister before she next goes travelling… assuming she hasn’t started to read my blog and seen it here first!

And while my Counterfeit Kit was out I decided to decorate this tag too:

Cloud Gift Tag by Jennifer Grace

The half-doily clouds (from My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found 2 – Rosy) are stamped with clear embossing ink and Seafoam White Ranger’s Embossing Powder. Then I doodled around them with a black pen, and added a couple of sequins. Clean and simple, but it will look pretty on a present!

Be Inspired:

Use some clouds on your next project – patterned paper, punched, stamped, or something new

Alter some alphas with glitter, or paint, or paper!

Make a clean and simple card or tag, it will make someone’s day

I hope these clouds make you feel dreamy! Do you like clouds or do they just make you think of rain? Does it depend on whether they are fluffy and white?!

  • I love clouds of all shapes and sizes, cumulonimbus, cirrus……………..I think I spelt them right I did geography at O’level and only remember those ones. The cirrus ones look like horses tails. Best of all are no clouds and clear blue skies.
I love how you have added glitter to give ur clouds a silver lining. I have used some cloud papers in my challenge entries,

Great projects all but I LOVE your layout! Your background has such a wispy, ethereal feel to it- you definitely nailed what you were going for. I’d say the type of clouds set the mood in my world.

It’s a good job I have put some cloud papers into my kit. I also must remember that I have a cloud embossing folder (that shock horror I have never used)

I absolutely love clouds, especially the fat fluffy ones. That is such a peaceful sentiment. I also love that blue-green background.

  • I always remember as a child playing the cloud game with my sister – spotting different images made from clouds. She once said she saw Father Christmas lying down with a puffin sitting on his fat tummy (hmmm, I’m not so sure!!) Clouds bring back fond childhood memories for me. Loving all your posts Jennifer although I’m a bit behind

  • Fluffy white clouds are great against a blue sky … dull grey water-filled ones not so much!
Love your page – lucky you to have such evocative ones from your own childhood to scrap!
