Delightful Deer Notebook
(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2013 Blog Event)
You’ve probably noticed by now that I like using deer on winter and Christmas projects. After seeing pictures like this one and this one, I was inspired to try and paint my own doe. Then I used the image on an altered notebook…
Delightful Deer Notebook:
I’m not exactly a professional artist (see how I made her legs disappear into the grass so I didn’t have to draw feet?!), but I’m happy with how she turned out! The altered notebook is like one I did a tutorial for before, right HERE.
This is what the doe looked like when I’d sketched her out with pencil:
Then I drew over the pencil lines with a waterproof pen, and rubbed out the pencil lines:
I coloured her in with watercolour paint, but it went a bit wrong because I didn’t have watercolour paper – I was painting on cheap white card. So I scanned the coloured image in and edited it in PicMonkey until I liked the image:
Then I printed her out and used the picture on the notebook, with a few wood veneers (Including lots of Studio Calico Tiny Stars) and some gems!
I know my doe isn’t ah-mazing, but if you’d like to use the image for your personal crafting you are welcome to do so! You can right click and save either of the pictures above, or you can download a jpeg which includes the white and the coloured images by clicking HERE.
What do you think? Are you as obsessed with deer as I am?!
Be Inspired:
Use watercolour paints on your next project
Go mad with tiny stars
Use a printed image on your latest creation
P.S. If you are enjoying this event, I’d love it if you can support me by sharing the projects you like via Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter or however you like! There are sharing buttons below to make it easy for you – thanks! (Not obligatory but appreciated!)

I’m terrible at drawing. I did draw a few things on cards though. I even did a face. She looks drunk. Good thing she is holding a glass of wine…lol.

Lovely project and impressive doe! Much better than I could ever hope to do myself. I have deer in my front yard all the time, so it’s not like I lack for models!
