Clean and Simple Christmas Cards – Six on the 6th
Today is the 6th, so another instalment of Six Cards on the 6th is now live on the SJ Crafts Blog. This series is encouraging you to get ahead on making Christmas cards – you can join in at any time of the month and one entrant from the series will win a pizza box stuffed with stash!
Here’s my set of six cards this month:
I tried to create something more clean and simple than my usual style, to make them a bit faster to put together. I’ll be making some more cards like these – even though they aren’t the typically busy look I go for, they have enough sparkle to keep me happy!
Here’s the kit I started with:
Six A6 kraft card blanks. some smooth white cardstock, a few sheets from Glitz’s Hello December 6×6 pad, a black ink pad, some American Crafts glitters and glitter tapes, Mister Huey’s Gold Mist, some gems, and the stamp set from last year’s Elle’s Studio Christmas collection. Not pictured – Mod-Podge, tape runner, clear embossing powder, a gold ink pad.
These were easy to put together! Here’s the order I worked in:1. Used a thick layer of Mod-Podge to glitter the wood veneers – 2 each of green, gold, and silver. 2. Added a block of patterned paper to the bottom of each piece of white card, and heat embossed the sentiment with black ink and clear embossing powder. 3. Added a strip of glitter tape to the top of each patterned paper block, inked the edges of the white card with a gold ink pad. 4. Splattered gold mist at the top of the white card, concentrating on the top left corner. Once that was dry I adhered the white card to the card blank. 5. Adhered a wood veneer to the left of each sentiment and added a few gems to each card.
Do you know it’s only 80 days until Christmas?! Get started on those cards now and come and join in with the series!
And don’t forget to add a little sparkle!
