A Challenge – To Use Red and Blue

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2013 Blog Event)

Sorry things are running a little late here, I’m having a few difficulties finishing the posts off, but I’ll catch up as much as possible!

It’s time for the last prize challenge for the weekend (still more inspiration posts and another giveaway to come!), this time it’s to use red and blue as the dominant colours on your project! Red and blue are the perfect combination of Christmas (red) and Winter (blue), so using them together will make a wonderfully festive and frosty project!

The winner of this challenge will receive this prize:

Prize for Challenge To Use Red and Blue

Some Studio Calico Wonderland items, including 3 sheets of paper, the alpha sticker sheet, and an ephemera pack!

Here’s a layout for a bit of inspiration…

Christmas Nails:

My supplies are mainly from the My Mind’s Eye All Is Bright collection.

I love starting new traditions with my children, as well as carrying on old ones that I’ve done since I was small. This one is definitely new – a mummy and daughter nail painting session that I know will become a yearly fixture!

I love to use ledger background paper when I have a bit more journaling to write, and this one was perfect because the lines were red and blue:

But at the bottom of the paper there was a lot of detail – I covered some up on the right hand side with the large doily, and then I made the left hand corner work by clustering lots of embellishments around it to make it a focal point for the page:

The ‘tradition’ word is a sticker, and the ’tis the season’ part is stamped – I like it that you can’t easily tell which parts were on the paper already and which ones I’ve added on!

Be Inspired:

Cluster embellishments around a detail on your patterned paper

Use ledger paper and write extra journaling

Embrace a red and blue colour combination

Have you started any new Christmas traditions lately?

To enter this challenge: Make something that uses red and blue as the main colours, and blog about it or upload it to an online gallery. Then come here and add your project to the Linky Tool below! You can enter this challenge as many times as you like, and you can combine it with other challenges (either mine or other online challenges).

The challenge will close next Sunday 17th November at 10.59pm GMT. It is open internationally.

See you again ASAP! Jennifer x

P.S. If you are enjoying this event, I’d love it if you can support me by sharing the projects you like via Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter or however you like! There are sharing buttons below to make it easy for you – thanks! (Not obligatory but appreciated!)

I love blue for Christmas layouts too. I am currently scrapping my photos from last Christmas and intend to use some red and blue. The newest tradition here is for my daughter (now 22) to do my husband and myself a stocking each from FC! It was a complete surprise when we woke up last Christmas Day morning to find that Santa had left us a stocking each!

What a fun page! And I love the idea of your new Christmas tradition – don’t think my 30-odd year old sons would go for it though! :o)

  • That is a cute tradition and makes me hope to have a girl one day to do this with. I have those thickers too – have you been to TK Maxx recently?!

  • Total fave! Adore this color combo – so fun that there are many product lines out with it.
I commonly use “cheater paper” & it does look amazing, especially when you add some dimensional items in there.

  • Great page and another great prize.
Haven’t started any traditions lately but my homemade advent calendars have to be “better” every year because of a tradition I started a few years ago!

  • This is such a lovely idea! I have to use Gelicure on my nails and last year I had scarlet glittery nails which were fab. Both of my kids would have loved the same so I will try and keep a look out for some. Thanks for the idea!
