A Challenge – To Keep It Clean And Simple {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Refresh Your Craft & Soul Blog Event – see the beginning HERE!)

It’s time for another challenge {NOW CLOSED}! This one is to keep it Clean and Simple.

The winner of this challenge will receive this prize:

The Challenge To Keep It Clean and Simple Prize - Closes Sunday 15th June at 10.59pm BST

Some sheets of paper and die-cut paper shapes from the Teresa Collins Family Stories collection!

Regular followers will know I’m not usually a clean and simple gal. I use a lot of colour and tend to scatter about a lot of little embellishments. So this was a challenge for me too!

Here’s the page I made…

Mystical Meanderings:

I wanted to see if I could make a clean and simple page with a colourful collection, so I picked the Echo Park A Perfect Summer collection:

First I went through and chose a couple of sheets which could work as the border for my layout:

I chose one and then I added a 11″ piece of white cardstock on top of it and machine-stitched a border all around it.

Then I added the title and the journaling. Quite often I get so excited about the embellishments and pretty paper that I forget to leave space for these, and have to squeeze them on, so it was good to put them on at an early stage:

I added a few stickers with pop dots, then limited myself to one kind of gems, one kind of wood veneers, and one mist bottle, to help me finish off my page:

Once I’d added these I called it done!

I’m not going to promise that I’ll never add anything else to this page, as I might be tempted one day to stick on a few more embellies! But right now I do like this page and was pleased I manage to pull off the clean and simple look.

Be Inspired:

Make a clean and simple project with colourful supplies

Limit yourself to one colour/shape of your favourite embellishments

Use pop dots to add stickers to your project

  • I am NOT a clean and simple girl! I’ll have to think long and hard about this challenge I think! Hoping to get some time scrapping this afternoon once I have been out – so busy this weekend and I am itching to have a go at some projects!

Cute layout! I really like the striped border paper, the fish and wave. I agree- it’s all a page needs. I don’t care for the pages where I have to find the photo under all of the layers of flowers and torn papers and ribbons and such.

Great layout – shows the photo off so well with the white against the bright stripes! I’m definitely a fan of clean and simple.

  • I love to do clean and simple layouts as the star of the show is the photo and not the multitude of embellishments xx

Wow!! What a hard challenge. I tend to go above and beyond on my pages, because I love the look. However, my friend is the complete opposite and finished her pages hours before me.

  • I think that striped paper works so great as the background border for this clean & simple page!

  • I love the striped border, not something I would have done (not clean and simple enough for me) BUT it really adds to the page whilst still keeping cas. Maybe I need to push my ‘clean and simple’ a bit further…

  • The page looks great….but I must admit I find it very difficult to be CAS….I always want to add more.

  • Oooh I LOVE this page – the stitching adds just the right amount of extra texture and the white space really keeps it fresh! My kind of page 🙂
