A Challenge – To Add a Little Frosting

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities 2013 Blog Event)

I’m sure you know I love a little sparkle. Maybe a lot of sparkle. Everywhere! I’m hoping a little glitter-love is rubbing off on you all, and eventually the whole world will shimmer like a Christmas star! If you’re not convinced yet then maybe this challenge will convince you to have a go?

I’m counting frosting as anything shimmery, shiny, or sparkly. Go forth and make those projects twinkle!

The winner of this challenge will receive this prize:

Challenge to Add Frosting Prize

Two Packs of Kars gems, two lengths of trim, and a pack of blue & green sequins.

To encourage you to get started, here’s a layout which has been suitably frosted, including using some of the same gems and trims which I bought for myself…

Wonderland Layout by Jennifer Grace

I love this little lane near our house, which looks like a wonderland when it’s covered in snow! It’s the first place I go when I wake up to a world of white.

If you look closely you’ll see that I super-shimmered this layout by edging some of the papers with glitter. The 11″ grey piece (Basic Grey 25th & Pine ‘Mistletoe Junction’) has silver glitter all around the edge, and there’s a piece of light blue patterned paper (Crate Paper Sleigh Ride) behind the photo which has white glitter around the edges:

I stitched some silver trim along the top of this ‘let it snow’ card, and then layered up more snowflakes on top of it:

With the usual gems scattered around!

Be Inspired:

Layer a chipboard shape onto another chipboard shape

Add trim to a journal card

Scrapbook about a local place you go to in the winter (or your garden covered with snow)

To enter this challenge: Make a project with a little (or a lot) of frosting, then blog about it or upload it to an online gallery. Then come here and add your project to the Linky Tool below! You can enter this challenge as many times as you like, and you can combine it with other challenges (either mine or other online challenges).

The challenge will close next Sunday 17th November at 10.59pm GMT. It is open internationally.

P.S. If you are enjoying this event, I’d love it if you can support me by sharing the projects you like via Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter or however you like! There are sharing buttons below to make it easy for you – thanks! (Not obligatory but appreciated!)

  • I love to read the things you do and then scroll back and look at it. When you describe the things you did, it brings more of it in focus. This is a very calming piece.

Beautiful layout, I don’t usually do much with glitter and gems, but for holiday layouts, it adds such a nice touch! I just watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and when I read your blog post title, “frost yourself” was all I could think of! 🙂

We don’t get snow in Australia but I will try to add sparkle to a layout soon.

  • What a brilliant way to add some shimmer & shine by edging the papers – I have some wonderful tinsel glitter that I have never used but now I think I know what to do with it! Thx :~)

Love the layered chippies and the frosted edges, beautiful – but Jennifer I think the challenge wording is for the “Embrace the Busy” challenge??? This challenge is to add some frosting, shimmer, sparkle or shine to a project isn’t it? Can’t wait to have a go, I love sparkles too 🙂
